In 1996, North American Life Assurance Company and its marketing and distribution arm, Wood Logan Associates, Inc. merged with The Manufacturers Life Insurance Company.

The resulting companies, known as The Manufacturers Life Insurance Company (U.S.A.) and Manulife Wood Logan are wholly-owned subsidiaries of The Manufacturers Life Insurance Company (Manulife Financial).

In 2004, Manulife Financial acquired John Hancock Financial Services Inc.  The union of these two groups of companies brought complementary strengths, common goals and an uncommonly bright future together.

In January 2005, The Manufacturers Life Insurance Company (U.S.A.) adopted the John Hancock Life Insurance Company (U.S.A.) name for most of the financial products it offers in the United States, including Venture Annuities.  New York products are offered by John Hancock Life Insurance Company of New York.

John Hancock is now the U.S. division of  Manulife Financial Corporation, a highly esteemed global enterprise based in Toronto, Ontario. Manulife is the world's fourth largest, and North America's second largest, life insurer by market capitalization (as of 12/31/05).   Click here to view the corporate financials for John Hancock and Manulife Financial.
